Current management of counseling in practical matters for family members and survivors - a proposal for how to provide counseling in social services

This diploma thesis deals with counselling management for families of deceased persons in practical matters. The goal of the work is to to describe the contemporary practical reality of social services in counselling for families and survivors. Another aim is to identify the matters in which help for survivors is most necessary. The research in this thesis is qualitative and uses semi-structured interviews as a primary method. It focuses on two groups of respondents, one of which consists of social services managers, while the other includes survivors who have experienced the practical matters of caring for a family member or their decease. The semi-structured interviews are analysed using open coding and subsequently split into categories which emerged from data analysis. Recommendations for social service managers are presented in the conclusion of the thesis based on the results of research surveys. These recommendations include suggestions on counselling for survivors in practical matters. The Phenomena of Death in a Social Worker's Job

The death of a loved one is currently a very common topic, and it is important for a social worker to keep it in mind. This thesis is called "The Phenomena of Death in a Social Worker's Job". The theoretical part was made by using analysed relevant literature, chosen by snowballing sampling. This thesis is divided into three chapters. The first two chapters focus on the theory and definition of death, anticipation and sudden death, suicide, mourning and options to help the survivors. The third chapter contains the practical part, with research data, including charts and graphical interpretation. The goal of this empiric research is to use semi-structured online surveys to answer the main research question: "How do students of the second year of postgraduate study of major SACH at HTF UK feel about their readiness to handle death of their clients and confrontation with survivors during their work?" I was trying to find out whether students at our faculty are considering this topic and how they feel about it. The research shows that students do not feel prepared to encounter these topics during their work. Why do people tend to not saying goodbye to the dead?

The diploma thesis deals with the search for answering the question of people´s not saying goodbye to the deceased. The first chapter deals with the topic of dying and death in the past and compares it to the present situation. Another chapter emphasizes the significance of the ritual in human life, it deals with the early and current funeral rituals, their justified meaning from a psychological point of view. It also deals with the places of the last resting of our ancestors. The third chapter deals with the ethical aspect of this issue and, in particular, with the search for the answers, which are the cause of the current situation. The last chapter focuses on social work with survivors, deals with accompanying, mourning, and counseling help.
Social Work in the Hospic

This Bachelor thesis is focused on hospice social care. The theoretical part consists of general description of social work, where Act no. 108/2006 Social Services is mentioned.The research part consists of qualitative research method using semi-controlled interview.The research was conducted in 6 hospices and one counseling clinic for bereaved. The goal of the research part of this thesis is to describe the specifics of social work in hospice with a focus on professional social counseling, counseling for bereaved and rental of assistive devices.

The Role of Spirituality in the Process of Grief and Bereavement from the Perspective of Bereavement Counsellors Abstract The objective of this study is to determine the role of spirituality in the process of grief and bereavement from the perspective of bereavement counsellors. The text is divided into three parts: theoretical, methodological and analytical. The theoretical part conceptualizes basic terminology of the main issue and gives the context. The methodological part describes the methods used in the research, which was conducted through qualitative research strategy using semi-structured interviews. In the analytical part I compare the results of the research with the theoretical roots. The participants of the research believe that spirituality to be a factor which positively influences the lives of the bereaved and makes their grief and mourning easier to bear. However, they also see that spirituality can make the life situation more complicated or affect their lives ambiguously. This thesis concerns the ethical aspects of accompanying the caregivers and the dying in hospice care and problematic situations in this care. This thesis is comprised of four chapters. The first chapter concerns hospice care - form, goals and definitions of hospice care. The second chapter focuses on hospice care in social work, which belongs to hospices. The third chapter concerns the ethics in social work, ethical dilemmas in social work and the importance of ethics in social work itself. The fourth chapter is focused on ethics in hospice care, dilemmas and ethical aspects of communication and mourning within hospice care.
The Last Things - ethical aspects of dying and burial

The work deals with the last things of the man from dying, through fear of death, burial and funeral rituals, to the demands that are placed on the funeral service. The work is not focused only on the actual experience of dying and his last period of life, but great attention is paid to survivors, particularly in the context of grieving, coping with loss and consultancy for survivors. In this thesis is provide space for all the various topics that are related to the last things of the man - funeral, cemeteries and funeral services that work closely with the survivors, who come to arrange a funeral. Summarizes the statutory regulations, codexes and regulations, which funeral services must at all times observe. It also mentions the role of undertaker and function of consultancy for survivors.
How to introduce children to the topic of death?

In this thesis I follow up the question How can we communicate with children in a question of death. I mainly focus on dying, acceptance of death and what are the effects that death can have on children i describe historical and current views of the death from sociological perpective. I compare the differences of burials in various countries. Burials are closely related with the topics like grief and remembrance of survivors. The work also shows views of children's literature on the subject of death. This literature has become a guide for understanding the child's feelings perceived in personal contact with death. It also says how the child accept and how it is influenced by death. Finally, it points out the importance of communication and explanation of the current situation of the child. The main role does family or professional assistance that should be provided to the child. The contribution of this work to see that the critically summarized on Czech literature and briefly compared to abroad.
The possibility of using elements of palliative care in a nursing home

The thesis focuses on the possibilities to use elements of palliative hospice care in the retirement home. The work describes basic theoretical themes such as human dignity, its interpretation and dignified dying. It also presents basic issues concerning dying and death, ethical problems of different phases of dying, as well as the dying person's needs. The thesis tries to answer the question about the possibility of dignified dying through the use of hospice care. It also defines palliative care provided in hospices as one of the approaches to long-term care of dying people. The research analyses two standards of nursing care in retirement homes The care of a dying person and The care of a dead person. It presents results of its own research method realized through semi-structured interviews with clients of a retirement home. The aim of the research is to find out whether the clients themselves are interested in application of hospice palliative care in the retirement home.
The Role of Social Work and Social Worker Accompanying a Man in Dying

The objective of this Thesis is to outline the role of social work and social worker when accompanying a man in dying. The Thesis focuses on defining the social work and, at the same time, it points to the enormous diversity of the social work. The Thesis thus deals with the unclear definition of the field of social work as a particular helping profession, with the competency of social workers and with the current discussion about the need for a law on social workers. The Thesis also treats the phenomena of death and dying and how these issues are viewed from the perspective of social work. In the Thesis, these questions are highlighted in the context of the impact of the postmodern society. A large part of the Thesis is dedicated to finding the role of social work and social worker in hospice environment. Interest in dying clients and their loved ones represents an integral part of the Thesis, which also points out their needs, wishes and troubles. The Thesis outlines the issue of advisory for bereaved persons as well. Furthermore, it analyzes the ethical dimension of death and dying, especially with regard to human dignity. Critique of professional literature is confronted with author's own practical experience and with the output from an interview with a social worker.
